Marble and Stone Tile in Framingham, MAStone laid with the veins in mind.
Marble, travertine, granite and engineered stone, as tile or as large slabs.
Marble & Stone
Natural stone is never the same twice.
No two pieces of marble match.
Veining, color and even the surface change from one tile to the next.
That is the appeal, and it is also the problem.
Set straight from the box, the veins can clash across a wall or a floor.
We set marble, travertine, granite and engineered stone tile, and we install large stone slabs.
We work with suppliers and fabricators across Greater Boston.
Tell us the stone you like. We will say plainly if porcelain would suit the room better.

What we set
What we set in real stone.
Marble tile
Marble hexagons on a floor and subway marble in a shower.
Polished, honed or tumbled, each finish reads differently.
Travertine
Travertine for floors and walls.
Its warm tones and natural pits ask for a sealer and a gentle hand with cleaners.
Granite and engineered stone
Tile for floors, walls and surrounds.
Granite is harder than marble and does not etch the same way.
Large slab installation
Slabs worked out with your supplier or fabricator.
A slab is heavy, so the route in and the support under it matter.
River pebble accent walls
Round river pebble across a feature wall, an accent that adds texture beside flat tile.
Stone-look and mosaic ceilings
Floor-to-ceiling linear stone-look tile with a dark mosaic strip, and a mosaic ceiling overhead.
Before you pick
Four things stone asks of you.
None of this is a reason to skip stone.
It is what to expect, and what to plan for, before you buy.
Sealing
Marble and travertine soak up liquid.
A sealer slows that down but does not stop it, so wipe spills quickly.
Tell us how the room will be used and we will talk through it.
Etching
Acids etch marble.
Lemon juice, vinegar and many cleaners leave dull spots, even on sealed stone.
A honed finish hides them better than a polished one.
Veining and dry-laying
We can lay the tile out dry before anything is set.
That lets the veins and the darker pieces be moved around, so you see how the room will read.
White thinset for light stone
Light marble can show the setting material through the tile or take a stain from it.
A white setting material helps keep pale stone looking clean.
American Tile installed a beautiful, glass backsplash in our kitchen. We had purchased the tile separately without Rodolfo’s advice, and we made an error in our selection of tile and grout combination. Rodolfo found the best solution, did the job (with great difficulty), made it right and we ended up with a gorgeous backsplash for Christmas entertaining. I would definitely call him again for our next tile project.
Extremely professional, clean and efficient they do an wonderful job in a timely manner!! Rodolfo is very friendly and professional!!

Questions
Asked about marble & stone.
Is marble a good idea in a shower or on a floor?
It can be. Marble is softer than porcelain, it etches and it can stain.
If you love the look and will keep it sealed, it works.
If you want little upkeep, marble-look porcelain may suit you better.
Can you install large stone slabs?
Yes, we install large stone slabs, and we work with suppliers and fabricators across Greater Boston.
Tell us where the slab is coming from and how it gets to the room.
Will the veins match from tile to tile?
Not exactly, and that is the nature of stone.
What you can do is lay the tile out dry and steer the veins before it is set.
